I retired a couple of years ago and prior to that, after my dad passed away, the home was unattended through the day while I was at work. A couple of times the ADT team called me at work to report an alarm. Once was when we had a small earthquake that shook the neighborhood and set off the alarm. The other one was when an electrical storm passed through the area and the power went out, and the alarm went off. They contacted me at work to let me know that the alarm was going off, and I came home and turned it off.

It's been about a year or so ago that I was contacted by someone from the company about upgrading my service so that I could connect it to my smart phone, but I don't have a smart phone. It's an old system and could be upgraded, but it seems to be working fine. However, the warning lights on the control box continually flash, but when one of their technicians came out here and checked this out, he said that the system was working fine if I can just ignore the lights. So, the warning lights are going to continue to go off this way and can't be turned off because it's such an old system. I don't have a problem with that, since the control box is in an out-of-the-way place, and it's not an eyesore. Other than that, I had problem with the system when the monitor on the rear door had been damaged, and the technician came and replaced it for me.

I still utilize the system whenever I leave the home. I set the alarm when I leave and turn it off when I come back. So far, the service has been great and I haven't had any problems. It's been a good and positive experience overall with ADT. They're definitely top-rating. I feel comfortable having the service because, when I do occasionally leave town for a few days, it's nice to know that my home is protected."
